Edit August 1 Mari's back and more than a bit grumpy~ She's also preparing for a certain something And Rufus got a haircut, hence why his fluffy mane isn't there anymore~ On the other hand, Mari's growing out her hair again. And as she has begun aging as an adult, her horns are beginning to twist.

Perhaps the biggest change; See that tiiiiny white marble in her left hand? It can expand to the size of an orb. More portable than a huge staff and with a larger focus, it allows Mari to stay armed anywhere she goes. Runes flash across the orb when it's channelling magic. It requires more concentration than her staff, as her staff shaped the magic for her while with this orb, she'll have to shape it herself. It's the first step to her mastering using magic without a medium. Still in its experimental stage; many, many accidents to be expected.

Skills:

Fire Blast (Fire+Dark) As it's name suggests, a simple blast of fire. A bit of dark magic has been added for extra “omph” upon impact.
Darkness Descending: (Water+Dark) Moisture is added to the air to make it thick. Blackness is added and is becomes a thick smog that incapacitates vision completely and dulls sound. Marianne can't move the smog around and a strong enough wind can easily blow it away.
Simplicicle (Water+Air) A simple icicle whose shape varies. Weak, breaks easily if attacked, but versatile.
Blitz (Fire) A circle around her will begin burning and will move to where she directs it. Must be on surface that can burn - cannot work in the air or on water

Personality:

Loud, stubborn, whiny and clingy on the best of days, speaks what's on her mind and is very judgmental. Will give second chances easily, and just because she's always arguing with you doesn't mean she hates you uvub

She holds in high disdain artificial magic, viewing it as a cheap rip-off of true magic, and will never use it herself under normal conditions, but understands its usefulness, having studied it at the academy.

Hates being alone and likes (positive) attention but will never admit it. Holds her friends very, very close and won't let anything happen to them. I'm looking at you, Kei.

And also, extremely clumsy and will get into all kinds of trouble without even trying. Tripping quota of at least once per rp or something similar. Usually leads to bigger disaster if left alone.

Has become rather introverted and grumpy as of late, distancing herself from her friends.

History:

Marianne was born in Terpua, the refuge of the Leiians. Her parents were extremely anti-human and Marianne was influenced greatly by this, tending to be prejudiced against humans. Her parents were quite wealthy and having gone through one miscarriage, wanted to make sure that they never lost her. They spoiled her throughout her whole life, which gave birth to a slightly extremely bratty attitude. However, Marianne was constantly showered with love and so despite being a bit very bratty, loved (loves?) her family very much. Marianne showed considerable talent in magic so when she was old enough, her parents sent her to Terhwa to study at the famous Magirius Academy, much to her dismay.

There, Marianne was fascinated by the extensive knowledge that was held in Terhwa and would often be found in a library, flipping through several books at a time. However, she hated the lessons and the work and refused to cooperate. All the teachers were fed up with her and were considering asking the principle to expel her, but one teacher saw potential in her and begged the school to let him try to get her to cooperate. He became a private tutor of sorts and tried practically every trick he knew to get her interested in magic, but to no avail. She still stubbornly refused. Yet still he kept on trying and trying – something no other teacher had done, they had all given up quickly.

She still refused to openly admit that she was beginning to grow more interested, and instead would hole up in her room and secretly read a book on magic, hidden among a stack of other books. One day her teacher saw her reading and realized that he may have found the way to get her to learn more – by giving her interesting books to read instead of lecturing her on it. So he got a big stack of books on magic and would secretly sneak one or two in her bag. Marianne caught on quickly enough, but didn't say anything on it and simply took the books and read them. They continued this system for a while, and Marianne began to loosen up in class. She still didn't like listening to the teachers, but would copy down notes or read the textbook.

It was only when practical lessons started that her real skill showed – combining magic. Marianne was a natural multitasker to the point where she found it hard to concentrate on just one task and would get distracted. However, when she had several things to focus on at the same time her performance increased. Marianne adored the library, a place where she could learn more to flaunt in front of other people and prove herself right. She spent most of her spare time reading and learned many things people wouldn't bother to know, like history and old geography. However she wasn't appeased with simply knowing – Marianne wanted to put her knowledge to use, to accomplish things with it, not just, quote, “sit around and drone on like a brain-dead zombie.” It was around then that she came across a book on the customs and ways of Pennute. A country that took control of situations and did things. It was the perfect country for her.

So the moment she graduated, she packed up and embarked on her journey to Pennute. Arriving at Pennute, she purchased a pet, a little red dragon (that was more like a winged snake) that had a nasty little bite. He soon became one of her most trusted companions. Meeting a fiery red-head healer, an archer, and later a pink haired Leiian and flirty black haired human, re-evaluating previous prejudices and even fighting several battles, she had been thoroughly enjoying her new life. There was a slight hiccup when a new pet died, but a new life was born from that death. After the big battle with the fragment, she disappeared for a day and came back the next morning with a familiar cape and a new look in her eyes. Since then she has been practising her magic feverently...

... And some of that training has paid off; she still has a long way to go, though. She is also getting thoroughly sick of caves.

She has a younger sister named Liusine whom she is extremely protective of, but also hits often.
She's impaled her pillow with her horns while sleeping before.
Her horns are very hard.
She hates her horns.
She's seriously considering getting her horns surgically removed.
Her toenails, but not her fingernails, are ridiculously sharp and hard so she has to wrap them up carefully or she'll shred her shoes.
The patch of scales on her neck are often mistaken for some elaborate chocker. She hates that, too.
